Caring in the relations between teachers and their pupils a follow-up study of graduates in one teacher training college

Kainan, A., Cohen, E., Fishel, D., & Hoz, R. | 1997 | חינוך

Teaching has often been classified as a 'caring profession', yet definitions of care within this context have often proved to be elusive.

The authors explore a variety of definitions offered within the literature and adopt an operational definition in order to explore how caring in manifested in the classrooms of teachers who have graduated from the same teacher training college in Israel.

The authors suggest that a caring attitude is prominent amongst the teachers in their relationships with their classes and individual children, and infer from teachers' own remarks in interview that the development of caring attitudes is heavily dependent on the ethos of the teacher training institution.
