The Comprehensive Interdisciplinary First Year Study Program
The first-year program is a comprehensive interdisciplinary program that offers a new approach to teacher education. The lecturers come from both the Jewish and the Bedouin sectors, and do not represent a particular program or specialization.
The program is based on a number of central educational principles: first, that what teaching and teachers have in common, is greater than what is different between them. Therefore the students are exposed to the whole educational system, from kindergarten to high school, in order to understand the needs of the system to better fulfill their roles as teachers.
The second principle relates to teachers as a particular kind of professional, for whom it is important to clarify and strengthen his own understanding of the connection between his personal cultural identities and their professional identities.
